About Us

CANTINA RAÌNA

Francesco Mariani's story is quite unique. He started out as a chef and eventually became a winegrower in Umbria, without ever abandoning his passion for cooking. This has certainly influenced his approach to winemaking: searching the purest and most authentic flavours by working in a way that is extremely respectful of the land and minimally invasive.

OUR VISION

“Raìna” was the nickname of the domain’s previous owner who planted the Sagrantino vines, and Francesco decided to name his vineyard after him to honour his work and the history of his territory. Cantina Raìna covers 10 hectares of land near Montefolca in Umbria (Italy) situated between 220 and 300 metres above sea level. The soil is medium-textured and rich in fossils, with a predominantly south-east exposure.

OUR JOURNEY

Sebastiano and Valeria produce organic wines in the Murgia area of Apulia, continuing a long family tradition. They grow only local grape varieties such as the famous Nero di Troia and all their wines are certified with a designation of origin (DOCG, DOC, IGP).

The area of Murgia, and in particular the hills near Andria, has ideal conditions for vine cultivation thanks to moderate temperature variations, good sun exposure, low rainfalls and proximity to the sea. Sebastiano and Valeria’s approach is based on a precious synergy between men, soil and vine in order to protect and redevelop their terroir and offer wines that are a beautiful expression of this land.

Mani di Luna

Fattoria Mani di Luna was founded in 2012 by three friends (Rocco, Simone and Alessandro) who took over an old estate that had previously belonged to the Lungarotti family, with the aim of bringing back its former glory with a great deal of love for agriculture and nature.

Mani di Luna

The entire farm has been biodynamically managed since inception, using herbal teas, manure and compost. All soil cultivation, sowing, transplanting and decanting are carried out according to the lunar calendar. Their traditional winemaking methods require close physical contact with the grapes through manual harvest and foot stomping. Fermentation takes place without additional yeasts or temperature control, so the wines can fully express the natural flavours of the territory.

Mani di Luna

The farm is located in Torgiano (Umbria, Italy) at an altitude of 200-350 metres above sea level, an area historically favoured by the Etruscans for viticulture and fruit growing. Old vineyards of Grechetto, Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia have been revived, while red grape vineyards were planted more recently with Sangiovese and Sagrantino.
